Have you watched the show Lost? I enjoy it quite a bit. Although if you are just now starting it, it might take a while to figure out what the hell is going on.

Two classes down and one more to go. The one last night was pretty lame and the instructor isn't much fun. The one tomorrow night has some of my friends in it, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

There are some changes going on at work. My manager is officially gone, and so now everyone is wondering who will replace her. I have put some things in the works for myself that hopefully will turn out well. If they do, I will be much happier at work. If they don't, then I may have shot myself in the foot, which is never good. (8:08pm)

Michael beat me to the punch in posting about the two new Apple products. The Mac mini is amazing, and I am seriously thinking about getting one. I had been looking and picking up an entry-level desktop Mac, but didn't want to drop a huge amount of cash. I also like the portability of it. Apple rocks. (2:31pm)

Monday - 01.10.05

I had a pretty cool weekend, which was important since it was my last weekend before school started back up. Leigh and I hung out Friday night and watched Garden State again, which is such an amazing movie. Then Saturday night we went out and saw my friend Trent's band play. Kinda a weird venue for a show, but they played well and I think they have grown a lot since last time I saw them. They definitely have down the British / Scottish sound that is big right now, and should have some success ahead of them if they can stick with it. Sunday I had an insane to do list (20+ items) and got all of it done except for one or two less important items. Overall a nice productive, relaxing, fun weekend; they should all be so good.

Tonight I start school and kick things off with a database class. I don’t know how technical it will be, chances are it will be more theory. Either way, it should be a breeze. The other thing going on is I just had a manager ask me if I would be willing to go to Birmingham more regularly. They think we should have a presence there to make sure people stay on task (since they all have end dates in April) and she asked if I would rotate going with her. I have a feeling this next 4 months is going to top all my past insane busyness and reach a whole new level of insanity. Someone get the Red Bull and Vitamin C ready.  (5:12pm)

I like Michael's new design a lot. I wish I was a good designer so I could change my site reguarly. I get so bored with things, especially when you look at them ever day.

School starts next Monday so this week is my last free week until May. I am kinda ready to get back to school though so I can finish it and be done. I did just book a hotel at Shell Island in GA for Leigh and I as a graduation present though. That should be fun.

It is funny how quickly the music industry gears back up after the Holidays. It was dead for two weeks, but starting Monday, my Inbox was slammed again. Everyone is definitely back, and lots of new music is coming out soon. This is both good and bad. (6:35pm)

We'll I am back...sorta. It seems the comment spammers finally got the best of me and crashed my site. I had over 25,000 spam comments, and had to tear the whole thing down. Luckily my actual posts survived and are back. I am currently working on adding comments back in, but this blog is now 100% custom, so it may take me a while. No more reliance on Moveable Type means no more comment spam hopefully. (11:37pm)

I met this new guy at the water fountain who did not know proper water fountain etiquette. You see, there are two fountains, but if someone is using one and you use the other, it sucks some of the water pressure away from the first person. This means the water no longer reaches their lips or lines up with their water bottle. Then when the second person lets go, the water pressure for guy #1 increases and squirts them up the nose. No fun.

I was guy #1. My nose is wet.  (4:12pm)

I almost countered that post yesterday with a post today about how I fixed my PC last night by taking it apart and adding a new chipset fan, etc. However, this morning it screwed up on me again, so at lunch I made a trip to the computer store and bought some more parts. Hopefully this will get it straight.

So what is going on with everyone? This week is the quietest week of the year, with no one at any of the record labels, no releases coming out - which means no mail, and just a general slowness at work and everywhere. It gets kinda boring.

We did confirm plans for New Years though. The party is in Charlotte, we have a hotel Uptown right at Trade and Tryon, and it should be fun. You are all invited, so start booking those plane flights. And Arvin, email me if you want to come up. (4:01pm)

My computer is bugging out on me for some reason and all it does is make me want to buy a G5. It is funny how once Mac fever catches on you want to go all Apple. Even my mom and step-dad have gotten in on it. After going to the Mac store to buy some things on my Christmas list as well as my brother's and sister's lists, they were so impressed with Apple that they bought a new iMac for my step-dad's office and are looking at laptops and everything else. Crazy.

Let the Apple revolution begin. (7:33am)

The comments on the last post got me thinking how amazing this website is. Not because I am all that interesting, or even because it looks great (thanks to Mason), but because where else can I get feedback from friends all over the country and my Mom on the same post?!?! Who else has their Mom leaving comments on their blog? Take that Sterogum or Blather or whoever else you find more interesting to read. Where' are their mothers at? (10:07am)

For the sake of this site serving as a document of my life when I look back in 10 years, I will mention that I managed to get all As in my 3 classes this semester. I am pretty proud of myself for being in grad school full-time while working and all the other stuff and still pulling this off.

On another note, today begins the 5 day eat-a-thon known as Christmas. For lunch today it is my work's Christmas party at Kanki; tomorrow night it is Christmas at my mom and step-dad's; Thursday night it is dinner with Leigh's family one, Friday it is dinner with Leigh's family two, and Saturday it is Christmas with my Dad and step-mom. It just never ends. Of course, I could be homeless and not have any food to eat, so I really shouldn't complain.  (7:07am)

I'm home, and back at work again today, but I can't say I am too excited about it. It isn't that work itself is that bad, there is just lots to get caught back up on, and lots of things at home I would rather be doing.

You remeber that laptop desk I put an image of online a while back? Well I have started building it and have the base built. Now I just have to build in the shelf for the flip up flat screen monitor, and put in a sliding keyboard tray. Then sand it, clean it up with my new Dremel tool, and stain it. Building is fun.

Speaking of building, I finished my shelves for my CDs last week. I have begun reloading all the albums, but before I do, I am ripping each one. As you can imagine, it is going to take me a little while to rip 1200+ CDs. (10:21am)

Is this whole 3-building office/apartment/more offices really only $90k? I mean I know it is old, but surely you could rent out the office space for the 3 different offices and then the apartment upstairs and clear more than $500-$600, which is all the mortgage would run you. And look at that vault door!! I want that in my office.

On the same note, what could I do with Middle and Elementary schools? I mean it iis only $95k. (7:38am)

Anyone want to go snowboarding/sking in Lake Tahoe California? You have to pay for your plane flight, but I (or my generous Mom and step-dad) can offer you a free place to stay at the Mariott there at the mountain. The trip is March 6th-13th (or some part of that week) and it sucks going solo, so someone tell me they want to go with me. (10:54am)

Wednesday - 12.01.04

I am really pissed off right now. I was suppose to interview the Chemical Brothers today, and was extremely excited about it. I love the band and they are huge throughout the world. Well I sat in the conference room, waiting on the call, and nothing. I go back to my desk, and there is an email from their publicist asking what happened. Turns out the stupid phone was unplugged in the floor in the conference room. They called for 15 minutes and got nothing. Who would have thunk?

This would not only have been really rewarding personally, but the band is doing very limited interviews and we would have been one of the first ones to talk to them about their new album. Suck Ass!! (4:46pm)

Today is a great day. Why? Certainly not because it is a Monday after a long weekend, not because I have my Corporate Finance class tonight, not because it is cold outside, so why?

For the first time in at least 6 years, I have absolutely 0 emails in my Inbox. Do you understand the significance of this? 0 emails. Four days ago I had 216, and I used this weekend to respond to every one and clean out the Inbox. I am kinda weird about email anyway. I consider it a battle to keep the Inbox relatively clean so I don't get lost in who I need to reply to. And I did it. The ultimate quest, to empty my Inbox. Done.

Now everyone email me so I can fill it back up! (7:20am)

My team at work had our Thanksgiving lunch today. What did we have? Two kinds of chili, cornbread, taco salad, rice, fruit, deviled eggs, etc. Lots of weird, random, non-Thanksgivingany food. Good stuff.

Joke time: I walked into work yesterday and this guy on my team who regularly has back problems, and happens to be gay (you will see the relevance in a sec) was stuffing an ice pack down the back of his pants. I thought it seemed like he was kind of missing his back so I said, "Does you back hurt or your butt hurt?

I walk back to my cube and my co-worker is practically on the floor laughing. I thought my little quip was funny, but not that funny so I asked what was up. she said, "Scott, I don't think you are suppose to ask a gay guy if his butt hurts." Whoaaaa! I wasn't thinking that at all and didn't mean to go there. Crazy co-workers. (2:06pm)

Friday - 11.19.04

So now it REALLY feels like Friday, although it has been a weird day. I decided to leave work early since I have to go in tomorrow, and I ran some errands and just messed around this afternoon. Then tonight I broke down into PHP mode and finished coding a new download page for SU along with the back-end CMS piece. I am excited to have that online, thanks for your help Michael.

Then it was on to some other little pieces for the site and putting a Le Tigre interview online that I did back in September. Yes, September. That is how far behind I am on interviews and I still have Head Automatica, Helmet, and Citizen Cope to get online as well.

Another question for the crowd. Who should I interview next? (11:34pm)

I swear today should be Friday. I just can't shake the feeling that the week should be over by now.

I was thinking about something last night about 3am as I was trying to fall asleep. Does everyone else in the country have those 1-800-CALL-ATT comercials with Carrot Top? If so, you know how stupid and annoying they are and I really can't conceive anyone thinking they are funny, even clueless corporate marketing people. I think that is the point though. They know they are stupid, but hope you find it annoying enough to rememeber CALL-ATT when you are thinking of making a collect call. Smart, very smart. Unless they are dumb and think people relaly nejoy them. Then not so smart. (12:33pm)

Wow, tough day. Tough week coming up actually. Papers, projects, tests, the usual ...but just a lot at one time.

The good thing is next week is Thanksgiving and that means a 2 day work-week and one day school week. That is worth being happy about.

I had a good weekend I guess. I feel like I worked a lot, but I don't think I worked on the right things. I did load some new albums over there though so that Michael would get off by back. Killer dude! (10:01pm)

I was watching the news last night and they were talking about increasing the beer tax in NC. They then went to the football game and asked some tailgaters their opinion on the proposed tax. The best response was:

"Not only does it suck because we want to continue to have affordable beer, but it sucks because it means there will be more cops on the road. Sure we don't want people drinking in driving, but we are adults and we can handle ourselves, we don't need cops out there looking for people drinking and driving."

Classic. People like that guy make me want to move far, far away. (10:09am)

I meant to update the records over there, but didn't quite get to it today. I did manage to write a paper, run 4 miles, do some SU work, run some errands, go to class, and watch about 4 recorded episodes of the show Lost. It was a good day.

Here are some new records I recently ordered. I made a decision not to buy CDs from Best Buy anymore, so I do a lot of online ordering now. Anyway, here is the list:

The Crimea
Ted Leo
Arcade Fire
Niko Case
Channels
Axis of Justice

This woman I work with talks on the phone all day about personal stuff and drives me absolutely nuts. She is new to my team and since my manager is out, (and has been for 3 months now) this lady doesn't really have anyone to answer to here in Raleigh. She is taking full advantage of it and doing pretty much nothing from 9-5.

It sucks because my team sits in the corner of the building kinda tucked away, and it is normally pretty quiet back here. Not anymore. It is one thing having music playing while working, but listening to some lady who is deaf in one ear talk on the phone about her house or her church or her ailments, or whatever, is just annoying.

Is it wrong to want to get her moved to another team or just away from me? Even if that means she won't have a job? Spiteful am I. (2:14pm)

Awesome weekend. Leigh and I spent some time together Friday night, just hanging out and talking, which was great. It was the first time in a long time that we both felt relaxed enough to just do nothing and hang out. A nice change.

Saturday morning we did some cleaning and I did some SU work before Jeremy showed up. He and I went and saw Team America finally since we have been talking about it for 3 weeks and then we all headed out to eat. After dinner we went to Cafe Cyclo for some mojitos, mind erasers, and other alcoholic goodness. We attempted to show Leigh how to play chess, although I think she lost interest somewhere during the second mojito.

Sunday we did some more cleaning and then Jeremy and I headed to the movies again to see The Incredibles. Awesome movie, go see it. We then all headed to the park where we spent the afternoon playing soccer, frisbee, and just having a good time.

Thanks for coming up Jeremy, it was nice to be around you again. (1:26pm)
